I recently took a trip through Nevada to travel to my home town of Washoe Valley, in between Carson City and Reno, for Christmas. To get there from Las Vegas it is pretty much a 500 mile straight shot up the Highway 95. This road can have a lot of side attractions that unfortunately many will not be able to bring to you in this post. Its far more to shoot in one quick trip. Read the full story
Like many people this holiday, I scored a lovely new iPhone 3GS for Christmas. Thank you Santa Bianca, aka Mom. Anyways, like many of those people who received one this holiday I was extremely excited. In fact the phone literally did not leave my hands for almost 4 days straight. Even now, a couple weeks later, it still enthralls me. Read the full story
The other day a friend of mine was helping me work on my Mazda RX-8, he works on the south end of the Las Vegas strip. We were talking about God knows what when he starts telling me how he was watching construction workers tear down the fences at the City Center. If you are unaware of what this is, its a $7 billion city within a city. When he told me this I knew I had to go down there and be one of the first persons to shoot the new City Center. It’s nice every once in awhile to step out of your box and shoot something you are completely out of touch with. Mind you there are a number of things I am very out of touch with, but with photography one of those is architecture photography. I have trouble shooting buildings and following the lines. I just think I haven’t had enough practice shooting those types of subjects. Read the full story
This new post will take us to a place I have only seen once before, and that was just to drive through it quickly. Thats right, the Hoover Dam. I headed up there with Rory from Realism Photography and his friend Chris. We arrived at the Dam just around 11:00pm. We parked in parking lot 10 since all the others had been closed down at this hour. Signs all over tells us that the dam is closed at night and no one is allowed. That didn’t stop us, but the police did. So after reading the sign we decided to attempt it anyways. We began hiking down the hill when a police SUV pulls up and announces through his bull horn that the dam is closed and we are not allowed any closer. Read the full story
There are patters all around us, in just about anything. Whether its a pattern in clothing or a certain way you live your life everything is surrounded by a pattern of some sort. This post is going to deal with patterns that may not be apparent to most people, or its just so common people don’t even notice certain patterns. Read the full story
Black and white photography has been around since, well, the beginning of photography. It’s one of those thing “easy to learn, but impossible to master” types of things. When I first started shooting about 3 1/2 years ago I had the lucky chance to learn 35 mm black and white. The first 20+ rolls I have ever shot was black and white. In this post you will see some of the very first photos I have ever taken. Including the very first photo I ever took. Read the full story
I recently got the chance to go to Oregon and Washington. I didn’t really get a chance to explore to much but the few places I saw I got some good pictures. My girlfriend and I headed up there to visit some of her family and to honor her uncle who got a memorial for his WWII services. Read the full story
The last few weeks I have had an unnatural obsession over shooing storefront windows. Yeah, I don’t get it either, I’m not even fashionable. I buy my clothes at Wal-mart and Savers, what do I know about fashion? Nothing! However I do love the way that they dress their storefronts to help attract customers. Call me a fan of the 1980’s flick Mannequin, but maybe thats what first peeked my interest. Read the full story
What comes to mind when people think about Las Vegas is usually gambling, clubs, 24 hour booze, food, entertainment and the desert heat. Fashion probably doesn’t even compute to most people. We do however, have some of the most expensive malls in America and a bunch of outlet malls to even it out. Read the full story
